Briefing Minutes 1.15

1. Any CDC, local health department, CCAOM or other agency updates?

US 22,965,957 confirmed cases 225,815 new cases in 24 hours 383,351 deaths 4,096 new deaths in 24 hours

TX 1,794,545 confirmed cases 20,047 new cases in 24 hours 31,050 deaths 426 new deaths in 24 hours Travis county 58,286 confirmed cases 598 deaths

-Austin health officials 'very concerned' with hospital capacity and ICU bed utilization. As of yesterday there were only 10 ICU beds available community wide. Related the Austin field hospital at the Convention center accepted its first patient.

-TX is first state to administer over 1M individuals vaccinated!

-Successful APH pilot COVID19 vaccine PODS provide foundation for future mass vaccine sites. The first three days of vaccine distribution have been closed clinics serving Phase 1A and 1B patients from community partners that serve uninsured or underinsured populations, including CommUnityCare, Lone Star Circle of Care, and the People’s Community Clinic. This has helped to ensure that those who are most vulnerable to complications and death from COVID-19, as well as those who would not be able to get a vaccine from the more than 350 other providers in Austin-Travis County, are able to get vaccinated. The vaccines provided by APH are available by appointment only. A miscommunication earlier in the week resulted in some vaccines being distributed to those without an appointment. This miscommunication has been resolved and walk-ups will be turned away moving forward.
