-From the American Statesman, In Travis county Local health authorities also said 92 more people in the county have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. A total of 31,943 people in the area have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. Of the 111 people who were in the hospital for COVID-19 on Thursday, 41 were in intensive care and 19 were on ventilators. The county reported 10 new hospitalizations on Thursday, compared to 28 new admissions on Wednesday. The seven-day rolling average number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations was 17.3 on Thursday, marking a slight decrease from Wednesday’s rolling average. The rolling average, which rose steadily throughout most of October, has decreased each day since Sunday, when the average was 22.3. The highest average reported this month was 23.3 on Oct. 21.
Dr. Escott with APH has said local health authorities are still preparing for any potential surges around the fall and winter holidays, and also urged people to seek creative ways to celebrate while following pandemic-related protocols.
